I picked some flowers from my garden the other day, which would have looked pretty scrappy if I tried to make a bunch out of them, instead I display them in my collection of vintage bottles, which looks rather nice I think. I pick the bottles up from the markets, op shops and the Woolloongabba Antique Centre always has a nice selection (I cheat a little, there are a couple of new bottles in there that were too pretty to put in the recycle bin!)

My Newest Obsession.....Macrame
I probably shouldn't say my 'newest' obsession, because I was big into it in the 70's....I still have an awesome owl lurking in boxes somewhere. Now don't worry, no daggy pot holders, I have been making necklaces out of some nice recycled cotton twine and some lovely colourful hemp.
lovely natural fibres |
not sure if you can see in this photo, this hemp has a strand of real copper through it |
You can find them in Thousand Island Dressing or at my stall at The Mummy Tree Markets this Sunday. I will also list some in my Etsy and Madeit stores this week sometime. I hope you like them, I really enjoy making them :)

Kewpies
Kewpie dolls are one of the cutest dolls ever made! They were originally featured in a comical strip like illustration in Ladies Home Journal 1909. The illustrator Rosie O'Neil was also a clever business women who recognised the appeal of these cute 'cupid' like dolls and went on to produce figurines, paper dolls, postcards, talcum powder boxes and salt and pepper shakers. There have been many variations since and most are highly collected and some very valuable.
At work, House and Doll Bulimba we stock a very cute plastic range from Japan. My daughter and I did a photoshoot some years ago with our Kewpies, we had so much fun! I make badges, pocket mirrors and cards from these photos, which are available on line in my Etsy and Madeit stores or again in House and Doll
